“Embracing God in the Valley”
- WAIT & LISTEN (v.1-12)
- Have you ever been so stressed out and fearful that you are just through? Even when you are doing what God calls you too it’s like you are from the Mountaintop to the Valley in an instant. In the midst of that have you ever just stopped and listened to God? Little did Elijah know that God was leading him straight through the Valley of the Oath (Beersheba) where Abraham and Isaac both dug wells to have covenant of peace…and the place of Jacob’s well where Jesus met the Samaritan woman. What if God is leading through the valley to the place of the oath…will you stop and listen to hear Him or instead stay in your self alone? If you look for God in the big places you will miss where meets you in the still, small place! Elijah finally hears God’s voice when he gets past himself.
- EXPECTATION (v.13-18)
- When Elijah hears God’s voice he obediently follows the Lord with expectation. Often in the Valley we can get stuck that we are in the valley…but would we trust God that He is leading us to something greater? When Elijah had expectation that God would do what only He could do & he, Elijah, would be obedient as only he could then something GREATER was on the other side of that! Would we believe that on the other side of our obedience is something GREATER than the valley we may currently find ourselves in?
Take Away:
How has the faithfulness of God in your past strengthened your faith today?
How are you embracing God in the middle of a difficult situation? Or, how would you like to embrace Him?
