My Story “I Decided to Go”
This is it! The culmination of the My Story Series! The place we all want to get to! The place to GO where God is calling us to go! But let’s not miss out on the fact that to get to this point we have had to know the small step God is calling us to start taking, the steps away from what is stopping us to be all God is calling us to, the patience of staying where God is calling us to stay…have all lead up to where we can step into all God is calling us to go into!
Where is God Calling Me To Go?
- Your Best DECISION will be to GO where GOD IS CALLING you to when it’s EASIER TO STAY!
- This is a battle with the Philistines! A battle that leads up to the famous battle we know with David and Goliath! Saul’s true character is revealed here as he sits and stays (he does the same when Goliath comes knocking in 1 Samuel 17)
- Jonathan knows God has called him to something that requires him not to stay in comfort…but to GO in faith! To follow Jesus is to always be comfortable getting uncomfortable!
- Jonathan’s faith to go even when he couldn’t see the outcome is exactly what God is calling us to when He calls us to go!
- He doesn’t call us to: Quit your job without a plan, leave your marriage or to recklessly give away all our finances without His calling! He’s just asking us to be obedient to go where He has called us to!
- So Why Don’t We Go?
- FEAR OF FAILURE ; RIDICULE ; I’LL DO IT LATER ; COMFORT
- We can see Jonathan was anything but comfortable! He had to dig on his hands and his knees to climb up slippery slope just to get to the enemy God was calling him to go to!
- Many times in our walk God has to do this to us! Not to make us feel weak but to show us that in His power alone, when He calls us to go He will defeat all that comes against us.
- By FAITH I Decided to GO…or by FEAR I decided to STAY!
- It always comes down to fear or faith! Whichever you feed grows! Fear can actually keep us in a comfortable state…but faith can take us where God wants us to go & be a part of the blessing He wants us to receive!
- Jesus had to step out in faith and GO! He came down to earth to be our Savior, He stayed with His family for 30 years and could have been comfortable as a carpenter but instead chose to invest in 12 never-heard-ofs to be the building blocks of The Church, and then ultimately He decided to Go to the Cross when He could have been comfortable in the Garden…but the most important that Jesus has decided to go was that He decided to GO before us. If we just have faith…Oh The Places We Will Go! Trust His Promise!
